Uziya Tzadok Sings Kochav Meir Live At Chuppah

Rising Yemenite child soloist star Uziya Tzadok sings “Kochav Meir” at the Chupah of the grandchild of Rav Ovadia Yosef a few weeks after his passing. The lyrics to the song were written by Rabbi Ovadia’s youngest daughter in law Harabanit Yehudis Yosef, who treated him with devotion for many years. In this song she writes about her feelings of the great loss and void in the world, which is shared by the entire community.

Toute l’actualité sur http://www.bfmtv.com/ Un enseignant juif a été victime d’une attaque antisémite à Marseille mercredi soir, au lendemain de l’agression d’une jeune femme voilée. Les assaillants se sont revendiqués de Daesh. “Ils m’ont demandé si j’étais juif ou musulman. Je leur ai dit que j’étais juif. Aussitôt, ils m’ont agressé. Ils m’ont mis à terre, proférant des insultes antisémites (…) Ils m’ont montré sur un téléphone portable la photo de Mohamed Merah et un des assaillants a montré son T-shirt qui était à l’effigie du drapeau de l’État islamique”, a témoigné la victime.

Attentats de Paris
Le prix de la fondation Jacques Chirac a été remis ce jeudi 19 novembre 2015 à Latifa Ibn Ziaten. En mars 2012, son fils militaire était assassiné par Mohammed Merah. En présence de François Hollande, cette Française de confession musulmane raconte son combat dans les écoles. Elle y intervient régulièrement pour convaincre les jeunes de ne pas se laisser séduire par l’islamisme radical.
Le combat de Latifa Ibn Ziaten récompensé
La mère d’une des victimes de Mohammed Merah se bat depuis le drame contre la radicalisation des jeunes.
Une mère courage
Six jours après les attentats de Paris, Latifa Ibn Ziaten répète son message volontariste : “Il ne faut pas que l’on baisse les bras. C’est ça que veulent les terroristes. Ils veulent nous séparer (…) alors il ne faut pas que l’on se divise. Il faut qu’on reste debout, qu’on reste ensemble. On ne doit pas avoir peur, on doit aller vers l’autre, et la vie continue”.
Elle reçoit aujourd’hui le prix pour la prévention des conflits. À la tribune, François Hollande a rendu un vibrant hommage à cette mère courage devenue une figure emblématique.

La journaliste Stéphanie Marteau avait interviewé en 2014 le père de Samy Amimour, l’un des kamikazes des attentats du 13 novembre. Elle avait écrit un article racontant comment il avait tenté de ramener en France son fils parti en Syrie. A l’époque, aucun membre de la famille ne pensait Samy Amimour capable de commettre des attentats en France. Ses parents et sa plus jeune soeur ont été placés en garde à vue après les attaques du 13 novembre. Ils sont depuis ressortis. Stéphanie Marteau a pu s’entretenir avec eux.

Die jüdische Gemeinde in Dubrovnik hat vor 200 Jahren an die 300 Mitglieder gezählt. Heute versuchen die rund 30 Mitglieder tapfer ihren Alltag zu meistern – ohne Rabbiner und feste Gottesdienstzeiten. Die “dubrova?ka sinagoga” – die “Synagoge von Dubrovnik” gehört mit der “Altneuschul” in Prag zu den ältesten jüdischen Gebetshäusern in Europa. Zehntausende Besucher schauen sich jedes Jahr im ehemaligen “dubrova?ko geto” – im ehemaligen Ghetto von Dubrovnik um. Für uns hat sich Marion Krüger-Hundrup in die Besucherschar eingereiht.

2014 est le 100ème anniversaire de l’écriture du “Procès” de Franz Kafka.
L’occasion de rappeler à quel point ce livre a été important dans la littérature du XXième siècle.
L’histoire est celle de Joseph K, antihéros, arrêté un beau matin “sans rien avoir fait de mal”. Accusé d’une faute qu’il ignore par des juges qu’il ne voit jamais et conformément à des lois que personne ne peut lui enseigner, il va pousser un nombre ahurissant de portes pour tenter de démêler la situation. À mesure que le procès prend de l’ampleur dans sa vie, chaque porte ouverte constitue une fermeture plus aliénante sur le monde de la procédure judiciaire, véritable source d’enfermement et de claustrophobie.
Mais le projet de Kafka n’était pas de dénoncer un pouvoir tyrannique ni de condamner une justice mal faite. Le procès intenté à Joseph K. ne relève d’aucun code et ne peut s’achever ni sur un acquittement ni sur une damnation, puisque Joseph K. n’est coupable que d’exister.

YUNG YiDiSH (www.yiddish.co.il) is pleased to present an original recording of Ben Gurion giving a public speech in Yiddish in Sweden 1963. Special thanks goes to Alex Dafner from the SBS Radio Yiddish Program’s Web, Podcasts and App for airing this rare recording.
Ben-Gurion had a famously contradictory relationship to the Yiddish language, his mother-tongue. On the one hand as David Grun he was one of if not the most important Yiddish language journalist and editor from the 1910s-1930s in Ottoman and later British-Mandate Palestine and he published his first two Zionist tracts in Yiddish. On the other hand he personally yelled at a Jewish Holocaust survivor and Partisan giving a speech in Yiddish (as she knew no Hebrew) to stop speaking saying the language grated on his ears and is believed to have personally oversaw the semi-banning of Yiddish in Israel in the media and theater in the earliest years of the state. And yet 15 years later here he is speaking in Yiddish in Sweden. (Thanks to Jordan Kutzik for this additional information)

There have been many books written about the life and accomplishments of the Zionist icon and founder of modern Israel, but this new biography by eminent Israeli historian Anita Shapira is the first to get to the core of the complex man who would become the face of a new nation.

Betty Comden (May 3, 1917 – November 23, 2006) was one-half of the musical-comedy duo Comden and Green, who provided lyrics, libretti, and screenplays to some of the most beloved and successful Hollywood musicals and Broadway shows of the mid-20th century. Her writing partnership with Adolph Green lasted for six decades, during which time they collaborated with other leading entertainment figures such as the famed “Freed Unit” at MGM, Jule Styne and Leonard Bernstein, and wrote the musical comedy film Singin’ in the Rain.
Betty Comden was born Basya Cohen (not as is widely stated Elizabeth Cohen)[1] in Brooklyn, New York,[2] attended Erasmus Hall High School, and studied drama at New York University.[3]

Rising Yemenite child soloist star Uziya Tzadok sings “Kochav Meir” at the Chupah of the grandchild of Rav Ovadia Yosef a few weeks after his passing. The lyrics to the song were written by Rabbi Ovadia’s youngest daughter in law Harabanit Yehudis Yosef, who treated him with devotion for many years. In this song she writes about her feelings of the great loss and void in the world, which is shared by the entire community.

Les assaillants se sont revendiqués de Daesh. “Ils m’ont demandé si j’étais juif ou musulman. Je leur ai dit que j’étais juif. Aussitôt, ils m’ont agressé. Ils m’ont mis à terre, proférant des insultes antisémites (…) Ils m’ont montré sur un téléphone portable la photo de Mohamed Merah et un des assaillants a montré son T-shirt qui était à l’effigie du drapeau de l’État islamique”, a témoigné la victime.

Attentats de Paris
Le prix de la fondation Jacques Chirac a été remis ce jeudi 19 novembre 2015 à Latifa Ibn Ziaten. En mars 2012, son fils militaire était assassiné par Mohammed Merah. En présence de François Hollande, cette Française de confession musulmane raconte son combat dans les écoles. Elle y intervient régulièrement pour convaincre les jeunes de ne pas se laisser séduire par l’islamisme radical.
Le combat de Latifa Ibn Ziaten récompensé
La mère d’une des victimes de Mohammed Merah se bat depuis le drame contre la radicalisation des jeunes.
Une mère courage
Six jours après les attentats de Paris, Latifa Ibn Ziaten répète son message volontariste : “Il ne faut pas que l’on baisse les bras. C’est ça que veulent les terroristes. Ils veulent nous séparer (…) alors il ne faut pas que l’on se divise. Il faut qu’on reste debout, qu’on reste ensemble. On ne doit pas avoir peur, on doit aller vers l’autre, et la vie continue”.
Elle reçoit aujourd’hui le prix pour la prévention des conflits. À la tribune, François Hollande a rendu un vibrant hommage à cette mère courage devenue une figure emblématique.

La journaliste Stéphanie Marteau avait interviewé en 2014 le père de Samy Amimour, l’un des kamikazes des attentats du 13 novembre. Elle avait écrit un article racontant comment il avait tenté de ramener en France son fils parti en Syrie. A l’époque, aucun membre de la famille ne pensait Samy Amimour capable de commettre des attentats en France. Ses parents et sa plus jeune soeur ont été placés en garde à vue après les attaques du 13 novembre. Ils sont depuis ressortis. Stéphanie Marteau a pu s’entretenir avec eux.

Die jüdische Gemeinde in Dubrovnik hat vor 200 Jahren an die 300 Mitglieder gezählt. Heute versuchen die rund 30 Mitglieder tapfer ihren Alltag zu meistern – ohne Rabbiner und feste Gottesdienstzeiten. Die “dubrova?ka sinagoga” – die “Synagoge von Dubrovnik” gehört mit der “Altneuschul” in Prag zu den ältesten jüdischen Gebetshäusern in Europa. Zehntausende Besucher schauen sich jedes Jahr im ehemaligen “dubrova?ko geto” – im ehemaligen Ghetto von Dubrovnik um. Für uns hat sich Marion Krüger-Hundrup in die Besucherschar eingereiht.

2014 est le 100ème anniversaire de l’écriture du “Procès” de Franz Kafka.
L’occasion de rappeler à quel point ce livre a été important dans la littérature du XXième siècle.
L’histoire est celle de Joseph K, antihéros, arrêté un beau matin “sans rien avoir fait de mal”. Accusé d’une faute qu’il ignore par des juges qu’il ne voit jamais et conformément à des lois que personne ne peut lui enseigner, il va pousser un nombre ahurissant de portes pour tenter de démêler la situation. À mesure que le procès prend de l’ampleur dans sa vie, chaque porte ouverte constitue une fermeture plus aliénante sur le monde de la procédure judiciaire, véritable source d’enfermement et de claustrophobie.
Mais le projet de Kafka n’était pas de dénoncer un pouvoir tyrannique ni de condamner une justice mal faite. Le procès intenté à Joseph K. ne relève d’aucun code et ne peut s’achever ni sur un acquittement ni sur une damnation, puisque Joseph K. n’est coupable que d’exister.
Cette adaptation radiophonique de David Zane Mairowitz insiste sur l’humour singulier de Kafka très influencé par la tradition mystique et antirationnelle du monde juif d’Europe de l’Est. YUNG YiDiSH (www.yiddish.co.il) is pleased to present an original recording of Ben Gurion giving a public speech in Yiddish in Sweden 1963. Special thanks goes to Alex Dafner from the SBS Radio Yiddish Program’s Web, Podcasts and App for airing this rare recording.
Ben-Gurion had a famously contradictory relationship to the Yiddish language, his mother-tongue. On the one hand as David Grun he was one of if not the most important Yiddish language journalist and editor from the 1910s-1930s in Ottoman and later British-Mandate Palestine and he published his first two Zionist tracts in Yiddish. On the other hand he personally yelled at a Jewish Holocaust survivor and Partisan giving a speech in Yiddish (as she knew no Hebrew) to stop speaking saying the language grated on his ears and is believed to have personally oversaw the semi-banning of Yiddish in Israel in the media and theater in the earliest years of the state. And yet 15 years later here he is speaking in Yiddish in Sweden. (Thanks to Jordan Kutzik for this additional information)

There have been many books written about the life and accomplishments of the Zionist icon and founder of modern Israel, but this new biography by eminent Israeli historian Anita Shapira is the first to get to the core of the complex man who would become the face of a new nation.
She’s joined by The New Yorker’s David Remnick and Steven Zipperstein, a professor of Jewish culture and history at Stanford, to discuss Ben-Gurion’s remarkable impact on the world.

Betty Comden (May 3, 1917 – November 23, 2006) was one-half of the musical-comedy duo Comden and Green, who provided lyrics, libretti, and screenplays to some of the most beloved and successful Hollywood musicals and Broadway shows of the mid-20th century. Her writing partnership with Adolph Green lasted for six decades, during which time they collaborated with other leading entertainment figures such as the famed “Freed Unit” at MGM, Jule Styne and Leonard Bernstein, and wrote the musical comedy film Singin’ in the Rain.
Betty Comden was born Basya Cohen (not as is widely stated Elizabeth Cohen)[1] in Brooklyn, New York,[2] attended Erasmus Hall High School, and studied drama at New York University.[3]
